Modern Music Artist to know: Juice Wrld

Jarad Higgins, also known as Juice Wrld, is a singer and rapper from Chicago.

He is mostly known for his break out single “All Girls are the Same” and popular song “Lucid Dreams”which hit number two on the Billboard Top 100.

Higgins’ debut album “Goodbye & Good Riddance” peaked at number four on Billboard Top 200. Higgins was born in Chicago and later moved to the suburbs in Homewood, Ill. He attended Homewood-Flossmoor High School. As a child his parents divorced at a early age of three. At age four he learned to play the piano. Higgins dad left, leaving his mother, who is was very religious and conservative, and older brother to raise him.  

Higgins’ mother did not let him listen to hip-hop. However, he was allowed to listen to rock and pop music. Higgins began to develop himself as a artist during his freshman year of high school. He released several songs on SoundCloud. Many of his first songs using his cell phone. Midway through 2017 Higgins began receiving recognition from fellow Chicago rappers G Herbo and Lil Bibby. He signed with the latter’s co-owned record label, Grade A Productions. In February 2018 Higgins released a music video created by popular video director, Cole Bennett. Following the release of the video, He was signed $3 million dollar deal with Interscope Records.

Higgins also performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” back in August. He recently released collab album with Future, “Wrld on Drugs”. 1takeJay & Rucci x The Winning Team – Two well-known LA rappers team up for a collaboration album to keep the Los Angeles Streets buzzing. With this release the city was able to hear the two local powerhouses and their labels team up. The album includes features from AzChike, 1TakeQuan, AzSwaye, 1taketeezy, and Kalan.Frfr., all of whom are notable artists in their own rights. 8/10
