Lady Tigers volleyball fell short to the University of Arkansas at Pine-Bluff 3-0 in a conference match at Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (5-15 overall, 3-6 SWAC) took the first two sets of the match, 25-15, and held match point in the third set at 24-23.
Grambling State (5-18 overall, 3-6 SWAC) bounced back with a win in the third set 26-25, but came up short in the final set 25-18.
Kevreion Ward led the Lady Tigers with a match high 15 kills on 44 total attacks while registering eight digs. L’Muriell Thrower added 19 assists, while Sheila Borders chipped in 18 assists.
Defensively, Erineka Mollere led the Lady Tigers with a match-high 27 digs, while Talicia Lang added 11 digs.
Grambling recorded 62 digs, 41 assists and six total team blocks, while the Lady Lions tallied 58 digs, 50 assists and eight total team blocks on the night.
Charis Adefolarim led three Arkansas-Pine Bluff players in double-digit kills with 15. Haley Gomez and Kendalle Howard each came out with double-doubles of kills and digs.
Gomez recorded 12 kills and a team-high 15 digs, while Howard contributed with 12 kills and 12 digs. Britney Sahlmann ended with a match-high 43 assists, while Cheyenne Odgers added 11 digs.
Senior outside hitter Lang led the offensive side of the net with a team leading .192 hitting percentage.
Senior right side hitter Ward was selected as the Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Ward has led GSU compiling 37 kills over the course of three matches.
Grambling State will host their last home game against Tougaloo College before the Southwestern Athletic Conference Round-up in Huntsville, Alabama set for Oct. 19, at 12:30 p.m.
