Jackson, Miss. — Grambling State Lady Soccer got a total team effort Sunday afternoon. The Tigers came out victorious over SWAC opponent Jackson State 4-0, where they got goals from four different players.
Grambling State (7-7 overall, 4-1 SWAC) got double-digit Shots On Goal (SOG) with 10 on the afternoon compared to just one from Jackson State.
The Lady Tigers had 22 shots on the night, leading to four goals by four different Tiger players.
The Tigers hit the scoreboard in the 16th minute with a goal from senior midfielder Sarah Dunbar after the assist from sophomore forward Kaylee Holt to place the score at 1-0.
Holt found the back of the net for the Lady Tigers after a goal in the 26th minute. Senior defender Brittany Terry recorded the assist on the goal to bring the deficit to 2-0.
Dunbar assisted on a goal in the 60th minute as sophomore forward Jasmine Smith hit the scorecard recording the goal as the Lady Tigers took a three goal lead.
In the final minutes of the game GSU would get an error from JSU goalie Bianca Clemente, as the Lady Tigers Clarissa Rivas would also find the back of the net bringing the final deficit to 4-0.
The Lady Tigers return to action for their final two home games of the season, as GSU will host Conference opponent Prairie View A & M Friday.
Start time is set at 4 p.m. at GSU Soccer Complex, where the Tigers will be the host of parents weekend.
Senior defender Florence David was also named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
