Cross Country places seventh

LAKE CHARLES, La.| The Grambling State University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede Invitational on this past Saturday morning. However, both teams had a seventh place finish in their divisions.

The Lady Tigers finished with 175 points for the seventh spot, while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won the meet with 24 points.

Sophomore Naomi Kiprop led the way for the Lady Tigers finishing in fourth place, with a time of 18 minutes and 50 seconds.

Senior Halima Chepkwony finished nine spots behind Kiprop claiming the 13th spot  with a time of 19:42, while Sophomore Winny Chirchair took 42nd at 20:48.
Sophomore Priscilla Kibet and Freshman Angelica Brown rounded out the field for the Lady Tigers, with Kibet finishing 52nd at 21:15 and Brown finishing 71st at 22:31.

The men’s side the Tigers  finished with 204 overall points and owned the tiebreaker over Central Arkansas for the seventh spot.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won  on the men’s side. Senior Hassan Chepkwony led the way for the Tigers with a 10th place finish with a time of 21:47. Junior Aaron Koech finished 37th with a time of 23:00, while Junior Noah Rugut placed 47th with an 23:35 finish.
