ULL Rolls over G-Men in season opener on the road

The G-Men fell to the Ragin’ Cajuns 49-17 Saturday in Lafayette.

ULL quarterback Andre Nunez threw two touchdowns. GSU’s two quarterbacks, Geremy Hickbottom and Aldon Clark completed 16 of 29 passes. 

Hickbottom threw for 112 yards and ran for 52 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers. 

ULL’s Ragas ran for 142 yards and a score.

Grambling took a 3-0 lead on Garrett Urban’s 22-yard field goal with 11:57 to play in the first quarter. Louisiana then proceeded to take control, scoring touchdowns on its next four drives en route to a 35-10 halftime lead. 

The game was the season opener for both teams.

The win was the first career victory for Billy Napier, the Ragin’ Cajuns’ first year head coach.

Coach Broderick Fobbs will take his Tigers to Natchitoches, La., next for a game against Northwestern State.

The Tigers’ home-opener is Sept. 22 against Alabama State.
