Graduating and missed the RJE? No problem

The Center for Academic Assessment conducted the Rising Junior Exam. The students enrolled in Get 300 tested March 14-17, March 29-31, April 4-7, and April 11-12.

Departments were advised to contact and encourage all pending graduating seniors Spring 2016 to take the exam on these dates to ensure they will be able to graduate. If pending graduating seniors fail to take the exam, there will be a petitioning process before any student will be able to test.

All students are encouraged to take the exam when they have earned 45-60 semester credit hours. Please advise/disseminate to all necessary personnel of these policies.

If pending graduating seniors have not taken the exam, the advisor should implement an add form for the student to be signed by his/her advisor and the dean of that college. No add forms will be accepted without attached email/letter verifying that the student is a pending graduating senior Spring 2016 and without Dr. Damon Wade’s signature. Graduation candidates should be verified by his/her advisor.

The petitioning process: The student should send an email to his/her advisor indicating why he/she failed to take the exam on the designated days and times it was offered every semester. Once the advisor gets the email, he/she determines if the student is graduating and whether he/she should advocate for the student. It is then sent to the chair/coordinator to advocate on behalf of the student and send an email to Dr. King David Godwin, Dr. Wade and Francheska Jones indicating that he/she has verified the student is a pending graduating senior Spring 2016 and that the advisor, the chair/coordinator and dean are petitioning to allow the student to test.

Please attach the email you forwarded to Dr. Godwin, Dr. Wade, Dr.  Janet Guyden and Jones to the add form requiring a signature from Dr. Wade.

If a student is not a pending graduating senior, do not implement an add form for him/her. He/She should enroll in the spring or fall semesters and take the exam during its regularly scheduled times.

If the student will be interning the semester he/she is to graduate and; as a result, will not be on campus to take the exam during the regularly scheduled times and days of the semester he/she is to graduate, the advisor, chair/coordinator may implement an add form.

An email should be sent to Dr. Godwin, Dr. Wade and Francheska Jones to include the reason(s) for petitioning on behalf of the student to test that semester. Please attach the email you forwarded to Dr. Godwin, Dr. Wade and Jones to the add form requiring a signature from Dr. Wade.

If there are questions regarding the status of a pending graduating senior send an email to Jones (jonesf@gram.edu) with that students name, G#, and SSN#(if possible). Some students used SSN# and not G#.

“I will try to verify if the student has taken the exam before testing concludes,” said Jones.

Jones is the director of the Center for Academic Assessment.
