Perkins chosen as Miss Omega

The Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. presented the Miss Omega Scholarship Pageant on Nov. 20 in T.H.  Harris Auditorium.  

The pageant began with mistress of ceremonies Yarica Charleston, followed by master of ceremonies Peter Dorsey.

There were six contestants: Jamya V. Burks, Jalin Ford, Ashley Monique Bowie, Micah Perkins, Danielle Burns, and Khadijah Morre.  

The contestants performed an opening dance, business wear, swimwear, talent, and formal wear, and ending with a question and answer session. 

The ladies were presented with awards: first runner-up was Jalin Ford, and Micah Perkins was crowned Miss Omega Psi Phi.  

“It was extremely nerve-racking,Perkins said. “It was my first time doing a pageant, so the whole time I was unsure of my performance.

“I enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone. It takes a lot to perform and present yourself in front of Grambling’s crowd. 

“Overall it was a successful night for me ,and I am so proud to hold the title Miss Omega Psi Phi,” Perkins said.
