Grambling State’s Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) hosted its Octoberfest. It was a fun filled time.
“Octoberfest is a way for students to have a good time and relax before midterms,” said Minister Lance Wright, director.

There were several events and treats. The bean boozle challenge, three-legged race, and bean bag toss. The most popular of the events was the bean boozle challenge. This challenge required the contestants to pick a bean. It could have been one of two flavors. It was possible for the bean to taste good or to taste horrible.
Started through the support of the Southern Baptist Ministry, BCM orginially came to campus in 2006 and returned in 2013. The group is now in the process of rebuilding.
BCM is a very family oriented environment. Students seem to enjoy it.
“I got involved in BCM last year. I love it. This is the best. Since I’m so far from home this is my family,” said JoAnna Grant, BCM president.
Khadijia Young, member, said, “I came to BCM last February. It’s been lively, lovely, and an experience. I also had the opportunity to go to Johannesburg. It was a great experience. I felt a movement and change. I had the opportunity to give the word to people who hadn’t ever heard it. I met a lot of people. People will only understand what I’m talking about if they go.”
Upcoming events for BCM include several service projects during homecoming week. BCM week will also be held in November.
Bible study is a place to learn about the Bible and to fellowship with other students who are also on a Christian journey. There is a great praise and worship session.
Students from GSU are apart of the praise and worship team. There is also a leadership team made up of students. They assist Minister Lance as well as help other students. It is held on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in Grambling Hall’s Auditorium.
