Life in college is a time of choices, change, and personal growth.  Many students may find these life

changes exciting, rewarding, and sometimes even challenging.  With these changes and encounters,

you may feel overwhelmed and out of balance in life.  GSU Student Counseling and Wellness Resource

Center understands that students may need some support to help them balance life and to succeed during

their journey.

SCWRC, is often known as the Counseling Center to many on campus.  Our name is different, but our

mission to plant seeds to help students grow and support students’ success through personal counseling

remains the same.

Whether you are preparing for your first days at Grambling State University or entering the final semester of

your undergraduate or graduate studies, we are excited you are here and ready to assist you with your counseling needs.

The Student Counseling and Wellness Resource Center seeks to promote mental health at GSU by providing:

• Direct service: Individual, relationship, and group counseling

• Consultation and Training: Equipping others to respond

• Prevention/Outreach: Educating the campus community

• Recognizing that mental health issues are inextricably intertwined with academic functioning, mental health, physical, and spiritual development, the Counseling Center’s objectives are supportive of the University’s primary commitments and its mission of strengthening student lives for purpose, service, and leadership.

The Counseling Center provides free, confidential services for all GSU undergraduate and graduate students, including individual, couples and group counseling; walk-in consultations; and mental health-educational outreach programming.

Students come to the Counseling Center for a variety of concerns including homesickness, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, eating concerns, and addictive behaviors. The Center also offers psychological consultation to students, faculty, staff, or parents who are concerned about a student. A caring, licensed professional staff is here to meet your needs.

The Counseling Center is open all year long…be sure to connect with us and feel free to make an appointment time that fits your schedule. Learn more about our services by exploring this Web site! If you have any questions or would like to set up an appointment, please contact the Center at 318.274.3277.
