Sandle Theatre presents 'Pearls of Wisdom'
I was taken on a roller coaster of emotions while listening to the depressing tales of life centered around African American women in society. They were dealing with issues challenging their strength, homosexuality situations and fighting the power to not end their journey.
"Black people are not dark-skinned white people," according to Tom Burrell."Too often Blacks and whites live in different worlds," he explained. "My point is that Black Americans, because of our heritage and history, have a unique culture that could best be reached through strategies, words and images subtly or overtly related to those historical and cultural factors.
This column is not advocating the use of marijuana; however, it is hopeful that this would broaden ones views on people who use it.When people think of a "weed-head", society portrays him/her as a lethargic young adult who never has any money, yet always has funds for weed.
All white powders are not treated equal.Although crack cocaine and cocaine contain the same active ingredient, they do not cause the same consequences if one is caught selling, transporting or using them. Cocaine, which is the purer form of the drug, does not pose the same societal risks that crack does.
